PITBULL MT4 EA

Documentation

The PitBull Bundle

Introduction

Welcome to the documentation page for the PitBull MT4 EA.

Here you will find documentation for the PitBull FOREX trading system, and the PitBull MT4 EA.

This documentation will describe the various elements of the EA, and explain how the system and the EA function, and exactly how to use them.

As the system is currently only semi-automated (single click trading), use of the trading system and the EA WILL INVOLVE EFFORT on the part of the trader to develop an understanding of the system and develop skill in it's use.

We STRONGLY SUGGEST the use of a demo account BEFORE using the system on a live account. Please read our product disclaimer.

The PitBull Trading System

The PitBull System is a very simple manual trading method that is based purely on price action.

The concept is based on the idea of using two "Baskets" of currency pairs (A BUY & A SELL BASKET) that essentially act as a hedge for one another. Below is an example of two baskets of different currency pairs that exhibit this trait. These are the default pairs configured in the EA & the indicator, however there are alternate baskets that can be used and we will provide some examples of those later in the documentation.

If you wish to trade a basket consisting of specific pairs, please ensure the FOREX Broker you consider has support for those pairs within their platform.

Universal 14 Basket (with two NZD Pairs)

SELL PAIRS
1 EURUSD
2 USDJPY
3 AUDUSD
4 NZDJPY
5 GBPCHF
6 CHFJPY
7 EURCHF
BUY PAIRS
8 GBPUSD
9 EURGBP
10 GBPJPY
11 USDCHF
12 NZDUSD
13 AUDJPY
14 EURJPY

The pairs numbered 1-7 are set 1, the "SELL" basket.

The pairs numbered 8-14 are set 2, the "BUY" basket.

These pairs will hedge each other.

The method begins fresh at the start of each week, by deploying the EA an hour or so after the market open on Monday morning. (Allows the market to settle from the open). This deployment will provide the trader with insight into the price action of the basket pairs as the week progresses.

At deployment, the "Indicator Trades Panel" within the EA will simulate SHORT trades on Set 1 (SELL Basket) and LONG trades on set 2 (BUY basket). These trades are based on the current lot size. (Default 0.01 - optional behavior in the EA properties)

The "Indicator Trades" are automatically sorted by profit. Initially the order of the basket pairs is quite random, but let it run for a day or two, and you will notice the basket pairs will start to "settle" and form a select order. All the BUYS will move to the bottom, and all the SELLS will move to the top, or vice versa.

Once the "Indicator Trades" have settle, we can now start to watch for trade opportunities. Ideally, the bottom 7 slots (8-14) should be occupied by the negative profit trades, and the top 7 slots (1-7) should be occupied by the positive trades.

In the image below, you can see an example of the settled trades. All BUYs have moved into slots 1-7, and all of the SELLs have moved into slots 8-14.

The PitBull EA Aligned Pairs

We now begin to watch for the first pair that is in the negative slots (8-14) that begins to "jump up" and cross the boundary between the positive and the negative slots.

If one of the negative profit pairs jumps up to slot/rank 7 there is also a corresponding positive pair that will jump down to slot 8.

This is the signal we are looking for in order to enter a trade.

We will trade those two pairs that jump across the positive/negative profit boundary.

(If you wish to wait for further confirmation of the potential trade, you could adjust this rule to wait until the "jumpers" moves into slots 6 & 9 respectively before trading.)

You will now trade the two "jumper" pairs. If the pair that jumped UP is a BUY pair, then you would go Long on that pair and Long on the SELL pair that jumped down.....And vice versa. (See Trade Legend below)

I will also trade the next two pairs that "jump" the boundary. But I limit myself to just 4 pairs being traded at any one time.

When to take profit is for you to decide, you can use the trade panel to set a TP (Take Profit) in dollars or use the pip lock functionality, but a good suggested rule is to close the trade if the pair retreats 2 slots in rank on the "Indicator Trades Panel".

TRADE LEGEND
BUY Pair ->  Jumps UP -> BUY IT!
BUY Pair -> Jumps DOWN -> SELL IT!

SELL Pair -> Jumps UP -> SELL IT!
SELL Pair -> Jumps DOWN -> BUY IT!

The PitBull EA Software

Below is an image of the basic screen setup for the PitBull EA.

On the left hand side, we have the EA, and across the bottom we have the PitBull Basket Indicator.

The EA is running on a chart which is NOT part of the pairs that make up the basket (Default USDCAD). This is to avoid price lines being displayed across the EA.

This chart also had the "#PB-BlackBg.tpl" template applied to it before the EA was deployed. This sets everything to black on the chart.

The indicator is running on a chart which is part of the pairs that make up the basket, although this is not a requirement.

The PitBull EA and Indicator on screen

The image below displays the various panels that make up the PitBull EA.

1. The "Indicator Trade Panel".

2. The "Trading Panel".

3. The "Live or Open Trades Panel".

The PitBull EA

The "INDICATOR TRADE PANEL"

The image below displays the PitBull "Indicator Trade Panel". The purpose of the "Indicator Trade Panel" is to simulate trades in each of the currency pairs that make up our baskets. It acts as a profit leader board for our basket pairs by ranking each pair in order from highest profit to lowest profit. It also displays the totals for each of our BUY/SELL baskets and the difference in profit between the two baskets based on the current lot size. (Default is 0.01 lots, this behavior is optional in the EA properties)

The "Indicator Trade Panel" can also be used to trade single pairs using the BUY & SELL Buttons located on each side of the pair symbols.

WARNING: Always check your trades if using these buttons, in a fast moving market the pairs can change slots quickly and you run the risk of trading the wrong pair.

The Indicator Trade Panel

The "TRADING PANEL"

The image below displays the PitBull "Trading Panel". The purpose of this panel is to control trade options and single click trade execution. Below we will detail the function of each button.

The PitBull Trade Panel

1. "BUY (L)" - This Button will trade LONG ALL pairs in the BUY Basket.

2. "SELL (S)" - This Button will trade SHORT ALL pairs in the SELL Basket.

3. "BUY (S)" - This Button will trade LONG ALL pairs in the SELL Basket.

4. "SELL (S)" - This Button will trade SHORT ALL pairs in the BUY Basket.

5. "Lot size" - On the top of the right hand side of the panel we have "Lot size", we use the "+" & "--" symbols on the left and right to adjust the lot size to be used for our trades.

6. "Basket TP" - Use this button to set a take profit in dollars for the total of all our open trades. Use the "+" & "--" symbols on the left and right to adjust the target to be used. Click on the "Basket TP" button itself to "Activate" the function.

7. "Basket SL" - Use this button to set a stop loss in dollars for the total of all our open trades. Use the "+" & "--" symbols on the left and right to adjust the target to be used. Click on the "Basket SL" button itself to "Activate" the function.

8. "Pips Locked" - Use this button to set a trailing lock in pips for the total of all our open trades. Use the "+" & "--" symbols on the left and right to adjust the target to be used. Click on the "Pips Locked" button itself to "Activate" the function.

9. "CLOSE ALL" - Use this button to immediately CLOSE ALL OPEN TRADES

As mentioned above, the "Indicator Trade Panel" can also be used to trade single pairs using the BUY & SELL Buttons located on each side of the pair symbols.

WARNING: Always check your trades if using these buttons, in a fast moving market the pairs can change slots quickly and you run the risk of trading the wrong pair.

The "LIVE TRADES PANEL"

The image below displays the "LIVE TRADES PANEL". The purpose of the Live Trades Panel is to display all the currently open trades created by the PitBull EA. It also displays the total profit for the LONG & SHORT trades.

Live Trades Panel

The "PITBULL INDICATOR"

The image below shows the PitBull Baskets Indicator. The purpose of this indicator is to display the divergence & convergence of our BUY & SELL Baskets.

The indicator looks back "X" number of periods for the current time frame (X is optional - Default 500) and plots the number of pips won or lost if you had gone LONG or SHORT on the pairs in each Basket. This is why the plot is an exact mirror, e.g if you had gone LONG, you may have won 100 pips...but if you had gone SHORT you would have lost 100 pips. This indicator is useful to see how the baskets are currently aligned and help us to understand what is happening with the indicator trades in the "Indicator Trades Panel". If the baskets have diverged from one another, it is likely they will re-converge in the future as demonstrated by previous price history. This is based on the relationships between the currency pairs.

Please Note: There is always a risk that major news or global changes could PERMANENTLY change these relationships.

PitBull Auto Trade Strategy Rules

6th December 2020

OVERVIEW

There are currently four different autotrade strategies on offer centered around the idea of PitBull baskets trading.

  1. Jumpers
  2. Leaders/Trailers
  3. Baskets
  4. Draw Down Baskets

Each strategy attempts to take advantage of the existing correlation and Intermarket relationships between current baskets pairs, however each is attempting to exploit a different scenario.

We have documented each system below, detailing the rules utilised by each to give you a better understanding of how and why each auto trade system behaves as it does.

Please read the details carefully to gain a better understanding of each system and the overall trading concept as a whole.

P.S There is also an “AutoTrade - ABORT!” button active when Autotrading is activated that WILL ATTEMPT TO CLOSE ANY CURRENTLY OPEN AT TRADES AND DISABLE AUTOTRADING….WITHOUT ANY CONFIRMATION!  (Valuable Pips can be lost awaiting  confirmation)

Enjoy!

PitBull - Baskets

6th December 2020

OVERVIEW

The Baskets strategy attempts to take advantage of the continuation of momentum of the BUY & SELL baskets. The strategy identifies the current trend established by the last settling event and then trades a “Basket” or group of currency pairs in the direction of that trend. The entire basket is closed when it hits the profit target or stop loss levels regardless of how individual trades within the basket are performing.

GOALS

  1. Identify the current trend of the indicator basket trades as per the last settling event and ride the momentum in the current established direction..
  2. Trade using a “Basket” of currency pairs rather than individual trades.
  3. Continuously add to account balance by regularly closing profitable baskets using optimised profit targets.)

  5. If the last winner was “BUYS” and the current Trend is "SHORTS are WEAK!" or "LONGS are STRONG!" then establish a “BUY BASKET” across all 14 Pairs...(Minus any exclude Pairs)

Otherwise…..

If the last winner was “SELLS” and the current Trend is "LONGS are WEAK!" or "SHORTS are STRONG!" then establish a “SELL BASKET” across all 14 Pairs....(Minus any exclude Pairs)

Exit

  1. Close the entire basket trade if the profit target or stop loss is reached. (Pips or $)

PitBull - Draw Down Baskets

6th December 2020

OVERVIEW

The Draw Down Baskets strategy attempts to take advantage of the continuation of momentum of the BUY & SELL baskets. The strategy identifies the current trend established by the last settling event and then trades a “Basket” or group of currency pairs in the direction of that trend.

Individual trades are closed (providing the account equity remains higher than the account balance) when they reach the target profit level. They are then re-established in the same direction.

The entire basket is closed if & when it hits the overall basket profit target or stop loss levels regardless of how individual trades within the basket are performing.

GOALS

  1. Identify the current trend of the indicator basket trades as per the last settling event and ride the momentum in the current established direction..
  2. Trade using a “Basket” of currency pairs rather than individual trades.
  3. Continuously add to account balance by regularly closing profitable baskets using optimised profit targets.

Otherwise…..

If the last winner was “SELLS” and the current Trend is "SHORTS are STRONG!" then establish a “SELL BASKET” across all 14 Pairs…..(Minus any exclude Pairs)

Exit

  1. Providing the account equity remains higher than the account balance (currently in profit) Close individual pair trades if the profit target ($ or Pips) is reached. (Which reduces equity and increases balance) Then re-establish the same pair in the same direction. (If things are still good)

FAQ

Basket Trading - General

What is a basket of currencies?

As the name implies, a basket of currencies is simply a number of individual currency trades that are managed together as a group.

Why trade baskets?

Basket trades attempt to exploit the Intermarket Relationships that exist between different currency pairs. (i.e Correlation of One Currency Pair versus another Currency Pair)

Of all the Cross-Market correlations below, Pair vs Pair is the strongest and most reliable.

  1. FX vs other currencies (one currency pair vs another)
  2. FX vs interest rates
  3. FX vs commodities (Gold, Oil, Copper etc)
  4. FX vs equity indices
  5. FX single name equities and ETF’s.

Trading Baskets can also help reduce single market risk.

E.g If you have the view the USD is due for a correction and will soon devalue, you could place a single large trade on the most liquid pair in the FX market EUR/USD. This would however leave you completely exposed to the EUR/USD market and any related news events. (Known or Unknown)

To avoid this you could break up your single large trade into several smaller trades across other USD pairs to reduce your exposure risk.

1.00 lot EUR/USD vs 0.25 EUR/USD + 0.25 AUD/USD + 0.25 NZD/USD + 0.25 GBP/USD

PitBull EA - General

Product Evolution

The PitBull MT4 EA has seen many previous iterations since we first started the project several years ago.

There has always been a quick resolution for bug fixes, but there has also been a steady flow of functionality changes to further enhance the usability and value the tool provides.

Below are some screen shots and comments which discuss and demonstrate the steady evolution of the product. Not all previous version are on display, but you'll get a feel for how the software has evolved.

PitBull 1.0

This was the original release of the PitBull MT4 EA.

As you can see, the original layout was vertical and designed to be used alongside a chart. The functionality was basic, and was modelled on the original manual system using just the MT4 Terminal sorted by profit.
