What does "crypto" mean to you?
Ask most people what the word "crypto" means to them and they will invariably respond with "Bitcoin". Although Bitcoin was the first decentralized currency, (Big thank's to Satoshi!) in my humble opinion it's bigger contribution was to capture the imagination of the creative thinkers of this world . Satoshi's original post sat idle on a cypherpunk forum for some time before it was noticed and the snowball began to roll.
The invention of the blockchain technology that BTC was reliant upon was a true stroke of genius. Decentralized and trustless, it awakened the imagination of those who crossed it's path leading to new invention and discovery. Today there are many new "crypto" based projects focusing on applying blockchain tech or one it's new variants to an ever growing list of human requirements around information management.
There are various new forms of currency, some backed by a variety of other assets, some by nothing at all. There are development platforms, identity management solutions, digital asset management systems, and even those attempting to build a better internet. Navigating this ecosystem and trying to identify which projects have the best chance for long term success is no small task.
This line of business is dedicated towards that purpose. Where as the trading of digital currency is covered by our TRADING business line, here we focus more on the technology side of each project and consider the likelihood of project success given funds raised from ICO/ITO and road map progress to date.
